word only works with /A command

First a little background.....user said yes to a prompt at some point but doesn't remember when and what it was (typical)

Word will open ok the first time and then lock up each time after that saying low system resources (even when no services are running in the background and after a restart).

Excel, Outlook, Access all open ok each and every time.

Word opens fine when opened as winword /a

Ran detect and repair
Renamed registry keys
Reinstalled Office
Exported and deleted all registry keys referencing Office9
Reinstalled Office

Still does not work.

The one thing i notice is when i reinstall i do not get an option to provide the user and organization name:

Office was preinstalled in the laptop by Gateway.

What else could it be and where in the registry may i look.

thanks..had forgotten to delete the normal.dot file

that was the problem.
