We use Office 2003, Outlook for email and use Word for Outlook mail editor (HTML format). All formats for emails set to Arial in Outlook. We create Autotext to insert signatures (the name is size 12, the rest is size 10) and have a sTrAnGe situation when using it. The Autotext for the signature in question is all in Arial size 10.

I sent an email to a vendor and they replied and the email was still in HTML format. I replied to them at the top of the message (existing text below what I typed) and everything I am typing is Arial, the email message below what I am typing is in Arial, BUT when I insert the Autotext signature the text comes in Times New Roman and size 12!!!

No matter what I do, I cannot get the Autotext to come into that message in Arial format. I cannot find where Word is grabbing this font from, the normal.dot is all Arial, the email is all Arial, what I am manually typing is Arial, but the Autotext comes in Times New Roman. WHUT????

Does anyone know what might be happening here or how to FORCE Word to only type in a particular font/size/color no matter where you type or what Autotext you insert?

Thanks!
Scott

Make sure your autotext entry does not have a paragraph mark

AWESOME!!!! That worked! I edited the Autotext and removed the paragraph breaks <ENTER> and replaced them with a carriage return <CTRL>+<ENTER> and that worked. It will default to Arial now but if I am typing in another font, it will plop the signature down in the font I am typing. THANKS!!!!

Do you have any way to FORCE Word (as an Outlook editor) to put what you type in a particular font/size/color always? I have people that send me emails in all kinds of fonts, bold, colors, sizes, and I always type Arial, blue, 10. And I break their message up and reply to "sections". Say someone types the following message :

--------------------------------------------------
When are the drawings going to be ready for Customer A? Did you change all the materials to stainless steel?
--------------------------------------------------

I will reply back :

--------------------------------------------------
>>When are the drawings going to be ready?

They should be done by Friday at noon.

>>Did you change all the materials to stainless steel?

Yes, and we also updated the parts list to match.
--------------------------------------------------

But no matter what their font/color/size I want to use Arial/blue/10. The problem is "sometimes" and only "sometimes") I will hit <ENTER> at the end of their line and start typing and it wil come up as my reply text setting in Outlook (Arial/blue/10) but most often it will start me typing in whatever font/size/color they had their email in.

I would like to FORCE it to be MY settings no matter what they were typing in. It looks like the "FONT When replying or forwarding" setting in Outlook should handle this but it only does "sometimes"....

Any help????
Scott
