Since my first contribution fell flat (see thread1322-913976), I am trying another challenge:

What is the longest word in which letters can be removed one at a time, each one forming another word, until there are no letters left?
Example:

taint
tint
tin
in
i

Anyone?

My 11-letter challenge stands! Yay!

Can you beat 11? Anyone?

You have yet to substantiate that your 11-letter word is valid. :) Depends on how obscure it is.

Each word is identifiable in dictionary.com

That is entirely up to you. :)

I can't keep it to myself!

Is aint valid? I believe it needs an apostrophe.

How about
taint
tint
tin
in
i

?

But it's more fun murdering the English language!

I think this is the wrong forum for murdering the English language. How about the Making an Impression forum? I'd like to see the response!

But if you want to do it here, enjoy.

Aint comes up with no entry at m-w.com. But ain't does. So technically it's not valid according to the wordplay forum rules!

Yep. I was really sad! Anyway: I'm banning taint too, as it should be:

tain't

(quaint slang for 'it is not'-similar to Bain't).

Shouldn't it be 'tain't?
Two apostrophes!
