Hi,
Running Office 2000 on Windows 98. When attempting to insert a bullet point in MS Word the following annoying message box pops up (does not happen every time but quite often):
'This program has performed and illegal operation and will be shut down'

I did a reinstall of Office but the problem persists. I am not having any other visable problem with the machine and it is not overloaded with SW, plenty room on hard disk, etc.

Any ideas????

Thanks for your time!

Are you running short of resources? Maybe you are running out of RAM sometimes causing the problem.

The Machine has 192MB of Ram
Under System Properties, Performance Tab it says 67% of System Resources free.....not sure does this mean 67% of RAM free. If not how do i check RAM usage? There's only about a 3rd of the HD used and it has a second HD shared over a small network but don't think this should effect things as OS is on main HD

Thanks again

Run SFC to check none of the OS files are corrupted.

Have you looked for Viruses or Spyware?

Howdy:

System Resources has nothing to do with the amount of ram on your system.. it remains a miniscule 64kb whether you have 64megs or a gig of RAM.. What doesd matter are the number of programs running using the resources..

Follow Ski's advice and try it in Safe Mode..
