I have a table with 3 columns, the third column has split cells i.e one cell in column 1 and 2 has multiple cells in column 3.
I have a case where I need to delete the uppermost split cell in column 3 of a row.

So far I have not been able to do this.
If I say delete row, it also deletes column 1 and 2 which I don't want. If I say delete cell, it asks if I want to shift cells or delete the row. If I say delete row it clears out column 1 and 2 as well. If I say shift cells, if shifts all the cells in the table not just the split cells in the row I'm working with.
Essentially what I need is an 'unsplit cell' command.

I hope this is clear and that someone knows the answer. I'm using Word 2000.

Gazolba,
Have you tried merging the split cells? Just select the split cells, holding your shift key down, right click and merge them.

Yes, that worked but somehow I ended up with a cell twice as high as all my other cells. I went into table--format--cells and the setting was correct. How do I close up the space above and below the text in the cell?

Ok, I figured it out. I used Undo to get back where I originally was. I copied the contents of the second split cell to the first, then I used 'table--delete--cells--entire row'. On any row but the first it works fine. Its only the top row that when you delete it, it also clears out the contents of column 1 and 2. Phew!
