Word has an hour glass flickering the entire time

Word has an hour glass flickering the entire time
from the time it opens. in windows 7 there is the blue ring and an mouse pointer flickering at a very high rate.
Its not in any other program
it seems you can use the program but not sure.
this is only on one machine but seems as though others on the internet have same issue. but no real fixes are showing yet.

any ideas?
re-install it?

Anything odd looking in task manager? Any processes seeming to take a lot of CPU?

That is a symptom of a partially corrupt or incompatible printer driver or a flaky network spooler. Check that you have the latest printer driver at the manufacturer's support site, then delete and reinstall the printer.

well this computer has 6 printers so do I need to remove all of them?
the workaround was to make a new user called user1 for exmple. this work fine. this problem is only on that one profile, Administrator and any other user don't have the problem.

While in the Admin profile change the Acceleration rate of your Graphics card just a little and see if that makes it go away. It should be under Screen Resolution, Advanced, Troubleshooting. Do to take it all the way down, I believe that turns off Hardware Acceleration in W7.

If you have the choice of 6 printers, it suggests either the Windows default printer (the normally the "active" printer) or it is the print spooler that is the problem.
