Hello

I have a user who has created a number of word documents that she can't get to collate. I have tried several printers, checked all printer and document settings, tried with the collate option both on and off, but no luck.

Anyone got any ideas?

Regards

Adam

On most of our printers using the collate option simply changes the order in which the document is printed. So that instead or printing all the page 1s then all the page 2s, it prints the document all together, then starts again from the begining. As if you had hit the print button over and over.

I don't think this is a Word problem, but a printer problem. What sort of printer(s) are you printing to?

I tried the same document on an HP 1200n and a tektronix 740p same problem.

So you're not using anything unusual as a printer then .... what an odd situation. Are they very large documents that could exceed the printer's memory? (groping in the dark here, because I can't think of anything else!).

A few thoughts.

1) Try printing the document from a different computer. This will tell you whether it's a Word problem or a problem with the document.

2) Delete or rename the Normal.dot file on the users computer (Word will create a fresh one at startup).

3) Remove and Reinstall the printers on the users computer (making sure to Overwrite the existing printer driver).

Another thought. Try printing from a different application (ie. Excel, Acrobat Reader). This will tell you whether it's a Word problem or a more general problem with the computer.

We have this trouble, too, with our HP 4050's and 4100's...so if anyone has a solution, it would be SO GREAT. Thanks!
