I have created a new Normal.dot with macros etc. based on a document I had. Which all works apart from one problem:

Now in word if I click "file/Save as..." instead of defaulting the file name as Document1.doc etc it defaults to what the original document I based the normal.dot on was.

How can I change the default file name back to "Document1.doc"???

I have noticed that when word starts the title bar reads "Document1 - Microsoft Word" this is correct it is just when I click Save as... that it picks up this file name from somewhere... WHERE????

Thanks

Leigh

You've obviously got code in the normal.dot file that is doing this. See if you can't find that file name in your code, or post your code here. dreamboat@nni.com

Thanks for your help, i've actually solved the problem now:

In the Normal.dot properties (File Properties) there was an entry in the document title, once i deleted this the default filename reverted back to Doc1.doc

Thanks
