Word cannot open existing "square symbol" when opening outlook 1

I have a user that is having problem upon opening outlook 2000. He is receiving the error "Word cannot open the existing "[square symbol].
I have renamed his normal.dot and problem still occurs.
He uses word as his default mail editor.
Can somebody please help!

Have you checked out Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 189439.
I'm not sure if this relates to yor problem as you haven't mentioned what version of Office you are using.
