curious problem.

Only seems to affect word, but not other office apps.

If you are working within word and try to save your document directly to the a:/ floppy disk - it shuts down the entire computer immediately and without warning.

this issue only seems to affect win2000 pro machines. I am witnessing this problem on word97 and word 2000 running on win2k pro, but not on windows 98.

Anyone have any ideas? How much more water would there be in the ocean if it weren't for sponges?

Hmm, doesn't happen to me and I've never heard of this before. In any case, I would recommend that you never save directly onto a floppy disk - always work from your hard drive then copy the doc onto a floppy afterwards.

yes, that is the workaround that I told everyone. But as you know, users just don't like to hear that. It's really wierd, and I wouldn't have believed it if I had not seen it for myself.

What kind of error causes and immediate and total shutdown of an operating system? How much more water would there be in the ocean if it weren't for sponges?
