word and outlook responding slowly

logged into domain in windows 2000 when typing in word it responds slowly and also outlook when sending mail it takes longer than usual to send and when exiting outlook it takes longer than usual.

Unfortunately without a whole lot of extra info, the only suggestion I have is the classic Microsoft answer... reboot your machine.

Take a look at the number of applications you have open and the "busy-ness" of your workstation in terms of memory usage, processor usage, and disk I/O.
