We have recently upgraded to Office 2003 from Office 97. We are using XP for the OS. Are we able to keep the same macros from the earlier version? We've been able to use the macros in Excel by lowering the security but it doesn't seem to work in Word. Any words of wisdom?

What doesn't work exactly?

The macros aren't working at all. Its like they aren't in the normal.dot. The macros for excel work in Office 2003 but the ones for Word do not. Office 2003 is not an upgrade, copied normal.dot, uninstalled Office 97 then installed office 2003. Any suggestions?

Yeah.

Tools > Macro > Security...
Security Level: Medium.

Do they still exist in Normal.dot? Check to see where Office is pulling the template from.

From your Start menu, select Programs > New Office Document.

This should bring you to a dialog that asks you which type of document you'd like to create. Options should include Word, Excel, etc.

Right click the Blank Word Document, select Properties.

Take notice of the Location. Does it match the Location of where you placed your existing Normal.dot?
