I have a strange issue with a couple of users on my network just this past week when the user opens up a word document the program will freeze up and the only way to get out is to close out word. I have scanned the file for viruses but no viruses. Removed the normal.dot and recreated a new one still could not open the file. The only way to open the file was to use wordpad and save it as an RTF file. Then start MS/Word after the program was up then clicked on open with repair file. I opened the file repaired the file and saved it as a .DOC file. Then was able to open the file up. I have tryed scanning for virused check for spyware. The only thing I can think of is there might be a patch that MicroSoft might have sent out. Has anyone else had the same issue and if so what was the fix.
Thanks for the help

Hi jrp611,

It may be that the document had become corrupt and converting to & from RTF fixed the corruption.

Cheers

Converting over from wordpad to word fixed the problem. But I can not figure out why 2 different people on 2 different servers had the same problem with in the same week. I thought it might have been a virus or spyware. so far no problems this week.
