Word 2000 printing to a HP LJ 4050N.

When we go into the page setup screen and make any changes then click ok, the dialog box comes up saying "one or more margins are set outside the printable area of the page. Choose the Fix button to increase the Appropriate margins." If we choose fix, the bottom margin changes to 2.67". We know this is not the smallest allowable margin. If we keep printing this document with 1" margins, it will eventually print ok.

I had a similar problem, check that the paper size matches in Word and in the printer settings. If Word is set to A4 and the Printer to Letter thay may cause a conflict.

Thanks. Good thought, but the paper sizes are equal.

I am going to be sound like a broken record: I suggest re-install the printer drivers first.

Also, try:

Format, Border and Shading, Page Border Tab, select Options, and set "Measure from" to Text. (Tihis may solve your problem)

Also, if you open the file in Wordpad and set any Margin to Zero in Page Setup, then exit Page Setup. Go to Page Setup again, the Margin that you set to zero will adjust to the minimum margin required for the particular printer. This way you can determine what your minimum margins need to be.
