I am having an issue with I believe my SCSI on my Intel SE7501WV2 Motherboard. It would get to the Windows Server 2003 screen and just lock up. After replacing the Harddrives with extra ones I had, got the same results with the splash screen locking up. I even took the Harddives in the down server and moved them to another server and it booted up fine. So, that narrowed it down to being something in the actual server and not the Harddrives. The only other thing I could think could be screwed up is the SCSI controller which is built onto the motherboard. I was able to purchase a new motherboard cheaper then getting a new 64bit SCSI controller and put it in. Now, when it gets to the point to where it should show the Windows Server 2003 splash screen, it gives a blank screen with the cursor blinking at the top left corner. I figured the SCSI controller was not configured to to see the 2 mirrored drives and so I rebuilt the mirror and the drives come up when the server boots up. But, where I would get the splash screen, I get a completely blank screen. I'm out of suggestions as to what it could be. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

How do you know it is not something corrupted in the Windows files themselves? My experience with hard drives and controllers is usually that they either work or they do not in terms of starting the machine up. I guess it could be a bad sector, but you replaced the hard drive(s) and the controller. When I have had a problem where Windows would try to start and then not make it, it was usually software, not hardware.

What happens if you tap on the F8 key while the computer starts to boot up? Do you see the startup menu that would allow you to try to start in Safe Mode?

Thanks for responding JGALEY. Good point in that most of the time it's software related if it boots to a certain point and stops. After thinking more about this, I tried again to move the Hard Drives to another server. Guess what, I get error messages at the point where I was getting a blank screen on the other server.

So I'm formatting the drives and going from there.

Also, before, booting to safe mode or last good configuration would lock up with a blank screen everytime.

Well formatting didn't do anything. I do have another server that is just like this one that I used for parts to switch out to see if it was a cable, memory, anything of that nature to see. Guess what, no go. Still locking up at the same point everytime. I'm all out of ideas. Anybody else want to take a swing?

I have been having a similar problem. I assembled a my comp and then tried to turn it on. The CPU fan cycled on and off a few times and then ran constant while the screen remained blank. After talking with Intel, they agreed my motherboard (D 945pvs) and processor (Pentium D 930) are compatable, but the BIOS on the motherboard is not updated enough. And so I find an older processor (Celeron D 320)on amazon and asked intel if it would suffice, they clearly said it would. It did not even fit right. Intel now appologizes and says they will replace my motherboard and theres a possiblity its BIOS will be updated enough, but that's just a maybe. I hate Intel support.
