On a single scsi disk array at 100 GB, with an existing 9 GB C: partition, I created a 40 GB G: NTFS partition. It won't properly add the drive letter, e.g. it won't show up in explorer.

One thing I thought strange was that the drive letter would show up as a shared folder "automatically". I have never had a drive shared automatically, must be some products "feature". This server has IIS and sharepoint running on it, among other services.

Any ideas?

Have you tried using storage manager to assign the drive letter/mount the partition? (right click My comp and pick manage)

Yes. I used the manage, storage manager.

I have successfully performed the same task on other 2000 machines, so this is unusual.

Like I mentioned, the fact that the drive is automatically shared seems odd to me. Is there a location where automatic sharing of folders is enabled?
