I am trying to setup a network of two computers installed with Windows NT 4.0 Server OS connected to each other using US Robotics Courier V.Everything leased line modems at each end and an analog leased line between them. Here is how the setup looks like:

Windows NT <--> Modem ================ Modem <--> Windows NT
4.0 Server 4.0 Server

I need to be able to transmit and receive data for both servers using tcp/ip protocol. Since I am using a leased line to connect both servers together, there is no phone number given by the telco. Also, I prefer not to use routers. Do I need to setup RAS on both servers? How can I setup this kind of network?

Appreciate all the help.

why shouldn't you want to install routers ?
it will make your life much much easier

I do not wish to install routers because of the high cost involved (e.g. router). This network setup will be replicated to many other sites and I am trying to keep cost at a minimum.

Keithi,
Youhave to install RAS so the the seriel connection works properly. Try to make this network seperate from your LAN and make your NT Server (As router ) It is possiple.

NT Server -1 ---->Modem<--->Modem---->NT Server 2
(RAS Config) (RAS Config)

Hope This helps you and solves your problem.
If you use a router the IP config will make your job easy thats the reason 'peterve' might have told you..thats is very simple and easy to handle.
