WMP11-W98SE-Can't Install-Error Code 3

I am trying to install a wmp11 on a machine running W98SE. This machine previously had an older wmp11 in it so I bought the same card figuring it would be a snap. I removed the previous installation (including any Linksys or wmp11 entries in the registry). I insert the CD and the software loads to the point where the hourglass is turning and everything seems to be going OK. Then I get a message from the Linksys installation wizard: Error Code = 3
Error Descr: Required data not found or disk space not enough.

Any suggestions?

I ran into exactly the same problem trying to install a WPC54G wireless networking card. The cure in my case was to go to installation CD's "Utilities" folder and run SETUP.EXE. This is actually the Uninstall program, and it removed whatever it was that keeping the install from succeeding. Don't know if it was old files, registry settings or whatever, but it worked.
