I have been using Foxpro 2.5 (dos) for many years to develop and distribute software, using the Watcom Systems Inc WLINK8.EXE linker. It has worked well in all Windows PC OS (including XP) but I have just installed VISTA and, although Foxpro all works well, when I try to produce an EXE file (or use WLINK8 on it's own) I get the message 'not a valid win32 application'. I have not get this message with any other EXE files so far. I am using VISTA home premium. Can anyone help with this? Any help much appreciated! : )

I'm not of much help here, because I didn't even know until know, that you could use a linker in old foxpro DOS applications. Well, but what happens, if you complie/link on XP and then use these EXE files in Vista?

Bye, Olaf.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Sorry, I forgot to add that I have used an XP machine to produce EXE files using the linker and they run normally on the VISTA machine, no problems. It seems that the only EXE file that VISTA won't run is the wlink8.exe linker! I have tried using all the 'compatability' modes in VISTA but still get the same message 'not a valid win32 application'. It seems plenty of people have had this message for other EXE files, but there's no consensus for why, so I'm hoping someone else has had this same problem, and solved it! : (

Not sure if this will work, but I'm trying to attach a copy of the file ... renamed as wlink8.txt ... if you rename as wlink.exe and try to run in Vista, let me know if that helps? Thanks, Geoff
