We recently purchased a WLAN 2211 phone. It works great as far as voice quality and funtionality. The problem I am having with it is that it has problems handing of to different AP's while I roam through a building. Any idea why? Would a firmware upgrade help with it?

My only expierence with these was not good. Mainly beacuse Nortel does not provide the WMS software with the product. You have to pay for it. Once you have it, there are several steps to tuning the Wireless Access points.

WMS software is for the Nortel 2300 series wireless controllers. The 2211 is a wireless IP phone OEMd by Spectralink.

What type of wireless infrastructure do you have? There are several settings, each of which are different, depending on what manufacturers wireless infrastructure you have in place.

A couple of things to check are:
Enable SSID broadcast on the SSID the phone attaches to
Set your DTIM interval to 3
Turn off any active scan features on the APs.
Disable auto power and auto channel selection on your APs. Hardcode the channel and power levels.

Those are some recommendations I've come across. If nothing else its a place to start.

Actually we just replaced our access points with Linksys WAP-200 AP's. I have SSID broadcast enabled on all AP's. Ill turn my DTIM interval to 3. I have the wireless channels set and power level is at 100% on all AP's. I have 3 AP's in one building and the channels are set to 1, 6, and 11. Any other settings to try? RTS? CTS protection? Beacon Interval?

Not quite sure what to say, other than Linksys APs aren't on the Spectralink 'View Certified" list. Meaning, there is no guarantee that WVOIP will function properly with those. The full list of APs is below:

If it's on the list, it doesn't mean it won't work, or won't work well, it just means that they haven't tested that model. If you were to call for support, you'd be reminded that the APs it's running on aren't supported for that application.

It sounds like your only issue is a roaming issue when going between APs. Make sure you've got the 97.071 firmware loaded on the sets. That will require that you load 174.034 on the 2245 as well.
