I have a requirement to withhold the CLI (calling line identity) internally and externally on some Mitel handsets. Is this possible? I was looking in the Class of Service forms.

We have a Mitel 3300 system with over 300 5212's.

Hope someone can help.

Internally it's done by making the Telephone Directory entry private. Externally will depend on the trunks, I'll assume ISDN PRI, in which case masking of specific DN's is done in the CPN tables.

Thank you for your help. I have got the internal surpression working using privacy in the telephone directory.

Could you give me a quick guide on how I can setup CPN? Also what does DN mean? Thanks

If you need to ask how, I dont recommend you try.

Read the help files associated with Call by Call restrictions.

If you still cant figure it out, ask specific questions.

You don't want to be messing with this if you have any doubt as the result could be not being able to call out of your system whatsoever.

If we don't take care of the customer, Maybe they'll stop bugging us.

I found out how the CPN works and did give it a try. I believe this solution would of worked if my ISDN was connect direct to the 3300.

At the moment all our calls go via our ISDX and out over our 50 chn ISDN.

If you can't figure it out, talk to your dealer (or Mitel product support if you are the dealer), I know there's some funky stuff involved with ISDX integrations.

If you are based in the UK you can set up ARS routes that absorb 9 and insert 141 to withhold CLI. You then do some fancy jiggery pokery in Class of Restriction to apply it to specific users. I've done it for customers before and it works well but some destinations cannot be dialled if you hold back your CLI.
