hi

I've been searching the web and a few other forums trying to find information on how to fully wire the bix blocks for a nortel norstar system (3x8 KSU, CICS & MICS). Unfortunately I have not found very much.

I have a bit of knowledge in programming the systems, as the manuals are fairly comprehensive but I need to learn the bix, the color codes for the pairs etc .. soo that i can successfully wire the external land lines to the bix and all the intercoms and then to the norstar system.

I found no CDs on global knowledge that deal with this part of the system. Are there only classroom courses offered by nortel that will help me.
Can anyone point me in the right direction

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi kalonji,
If you check the FAQ tab at the top of the page I believe there's a heading called Norstar wiring, that might be what your looking for.

As TRONIC1 said, look at the FAQs tab Wiring
Or the installer guide will have all the wiring details

Are you asking what's the color code for the amphenol cable?
If so the cable is terminated on the BIX starting from the left in this color order
white/Blue
White/orange
w/green
w/brown
w/slate

red/blue
r/o
r/gr
r/br
r/s

black/blue
bl/o
bl/gr
bl/br
bl/s

yellow/blue
y/o
y/gr
y/br
y/s

violet/blue
v/o
v/gr
v/br
v/s

Then follow the installer guide for the correct connection to your phones, music, page.....

thanks guys for all the informative posts ... I've already started to understand it.

If you don't know the color code, you're lost before you start. Everything is based on the color code. A wiser choice would be to hire an installer and you look over his shoulder. He can explain things as he goes along. Most of the stuff is easy and once you've seen it done, you will be able to do yourself.
