I recently disected my gateway select 800 for de-dusting purposes and now that I've re-assembled the tower, the lights on my cd and floppy drives stay on and the drives won't work. The computer won't recognize any disks I put in, but all else if fine as I'm using the pc right now. Could this be a wiring error? I was careful not to damage motherboard components and such. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

The ribbon cable on the floppy is backwards. Either on the M/B or on the floppy. The red stripe on both ends must match up with the pin 1 marking at the connector.

Suspicion that the CD problem is related.
