Hi all

Ive recently installed a wireless router and the software on my laptop!

All is working well and I can access the internet, however when I hibernate or turn my laptop off and a few hours later turn it back on I no longer can connect to the internet!!

I can only connect back to the internet by going into the Netgear configuration settings (site survey) and re-scanning????

Has anyone experienced similar problems??

The hardware spec is a Netgear 54 mbps wireless pc card, 32 bit cardbus WG511.

Any ideas??

Jim

In the power manager, you have an option if the computer can shutdown the NIC card. make sure this is disabled.

Thanks for the quick response TeknoSDS!

BUT still no joy!!

Any other suggestions??

Cheers

Hi jimster1982,
Have you checked the driver settings?

Like TechnoSDS says, the Power Manager setting should be disabled.

Does it have an Idle time? and max time out? maybe redile on demand setting in the netgear

Friends,

The problem is when ever i turn my machine back ON after a soft reboot / back from hibernations.

Drivers work ok i assume as once i have clicked on site survey the link to the router is brought back up.

Its like i lose the link everytime i restart and HAVE TO click on site survey to re-conect.

Surely this should be automatic??

Please advise!

Hi jimster1982,
Mine is fully automatic... I've just come back to my laptop and it woke up without problem.

I've got a BELKIN router & pcmcia card, so maybe it's a NETGEAR thing - have you checked their website FAQ?

Roger...

Do you have a connection light on the network card? or on the indication icon in the task bar?

Hibernations shut down any connections made to the network, try logging back on to the web.
