Hi All,
We have an 81c at the hotel and we a building which is on the other side of some tennis courts which is prohibitive to run cable to. So for our LAN we have a wireless Cisco product to send the data. Is there an equivalent to this in the Nortel PBX world? Right now we are just purchasing DID's from the phone company for this building. If there were a wireless solution we might be interested. Any ideas?
Thanks TRavis

there is the wireless IP phones by nortel which might interest you ... since you already have connectivity ... you probably did "radio survey

I looked at the link. It's not so important for the handset to be wireless since the employees at this location will be stationary. Do they make a stationary counterpart to the 2210?

You can have wireless or normal phones via IP.
So if you have a lan connection to the other building,
you can have any type of phone you want.

if you want ordinary sets, they probably will be called i2002 or i2004.

They have about the same functionallity as M3902 and M3904.
So the users will not see any real differences.

You will need an extra card (ip line) in your PBX, some programming, connection to the lan, and then it will be up and running.

if you going IP route ...you need the OTM software to adminster that (if you already dont have it)

are u looking for something like a wireless modem just to jump the distance?

Well,
We already have a wireless shot to the other building for our network connectivity so shouldn't we be able to use that?........or do we need a separate wireless unit to send the data from the ip line card over to the phones in the other building?

Thanks
Travis

no the itg line card pluges into your network with a cat 5 ethernet connection, then your phones plug into your switches and/or hubs. normal to set up a vlan for that but not always the case. we use a separate ip address for phones but it is not a must. no other connection is necessary.

If you don't have too many phones going into the other building, check out the Remote Office 9150 solution from Nortel. With that, you can use any existing M3904s. The 9150 uses an IP connection to talk with an RLC that would be installed on your 81c, but the phones themselves would not be IP. This is probably the cheaper route, but in the long run, you probably want to go with the upgrade mentioned above to do IP with the i2004s. With that, you can put a set anywhere (even through a broadband VPN) that has connection to your network, and it should work.
