I am trying to wireless network my home PC (XP Home) and my laptop (XP Pro) using Linksys cards (PCI and PCMCIA). Individually both cards installed fine and show full speed connection at 54 MB/sec, but when I connect, the speed drops to 1MB/sec. My laptop is also configured to connect to my office domain but using a different NIC. Have I failed to configure the network connection correctly? Any ideas gratefully received.

So...youre just trying to configure the computers to simply talk to each other?

Yes, I am and have achieved that, however, i was trying to find out why the 54MS/sec Wireless Networking would only operate at 1MB/sec when the two machines were networked.

Make sure that the speed of your cards are set to automatic. You may also want to set the rts threshold of each to 2304
