Wireless network problem

Hi

I have a (to me) strange problem with my wireless internet connection.

My wireless network only work if I startup my computer with network cable conneted. I can then remove the cable and my wireless network works.
If I startup without cable the wireless network does not work.

The computer is new and the network was setup default.

Two other notebooks can connect to the wireless network without problems.

When I scan my system (winXP) DNSServerSearchOrder failed (see below). Can it be the problem? I am a little lost

I hope I missed a setting somewhere.

Any clue?

Just as a matter of interest what happens if you disable the LAN connection and restart the PC?

Also how is your wireless network set up? is it setup to act as the DNS server?? the reason I ask is that the address above resolves to a Danish ISP, was this setting put in by you? What are the DNS settings on the other machines that work ok?

Answer: The same. I cannot connect through the wireless net after reboot

Answer: “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain the following DNS server addresses”. I am from Denmark, which explain the Danish ISP Did it answer your questions?

It doesn't really answer it... basically I am trying to find out if your wireless access point is acting as the DHCP server or if it's getting it from somewhere else.

My wireless network assigns the addresses, but rather than assigning the ISP DNS server it gives itself (192.168.0.1) as the DNS. I am wondering if you have any static settings in your IP configuration somewhere because of the DNS entry.

I would have a look at the settings for your LAN card to check that it doesn't have any settings in there and move on from there.

Have you disabled the default xp wireless networking? Might be giving you problems.

I found the solution. It was my Firewall which had some problem with XP service pack 2.
