One of our sites just purchased a wireless headset from Plaintronics its there CS50 model, the thing is is that it has a 300ft range but you have to press the actual console to pick up the calls to hear it in the headset you then can roam around and then to hang it up you have to press the console again, whats the point is what I said after they purchased it. Anyone know of a wireless headset solution that will work with Avayas 302c Attendant console and you can answer calls by pressing the headset and hang up calls by pressing the button again.

You won't find such a beast.

Besides, even if you had a button to use to answer and drop calls, you still need a whole bunch of other functions if you are going to try to do the job of an attendant.

You could forward the Console to a Transtalk. That's a wireless handset that has most features of a station. Transfer, multiple appearances, etc.

In a previous job, our receptionist had other responsibilities, she just put the console in "night" mode and it would forward to the Transtalk allowing her to move around to do her other responsibilities.

Most Avaya phones with no handset like the CallMasters you have no choice. If there is a receiver or handset like a 6416 then you can purchase an RHL from Plantronics which is taped to the phone and when you press the answer button the RHL lifts the receiver and visa versa. Auto answer is the only option at this time for non-handset phones. I think the RHL is about $100 CND if you can go that route. We tried them here but found two problems.
1 - the so called 300 feet is BS, the unit is 900 mgz so a cell phone can break that 300 feet, also because it is 900 mghz it can be tapped in to and thus eves dropping can occur, problem for us.
2 - Ok great the User can answer the call away from their desk, fine if they are Admins, but in a callcentre, they need their PC to do the other half of the work.

Look at GN Netcom's 9120 model as well, more secure mghz range and we can go up to 300 ft no problem, but again reason 2 will affect you. We finally just set up a cell phone for those in security and when they have to do rounds they forward the calls to the cell while they walk around.

I have some questions about Transtalk, you say its a wireless telephone, and that you can forward the console to the Transtalk does the Transtalk get like its own extension, im guessing it would have to if your going to forward the console to it. We are using are 302C Attendant console with a Definity G3r system, is there a certain revision that the software has to be at for the transtalk to work? Also will the hunt groups still work if say the attendant console is being forwarded to the wireless phone, say she doesnt pick up the wireless phone will it roll to the next extension that was setup for the console? And my last question can you get a headset that plugs into the wireless phone?

Yes, the Transtalk gets it's own extension. In my old job, we were usin ga G3r V6 with the Transtalk and it worked fine. Forward from that I know it works, I'm not positive about before that though. You could add the Transtalk into the huntgroup if you wanted to, or create a new huntgroup for when she puts the console into night more and it goes to the Transtalk. To answer your last question, yes you can plug a headset into the Transtalks.

Here's a brochure from Avaya with some more information if you're interested.

Well after talking with our previous phone tech, he just informed me that the Transtalk solution isnt all that good he said the base stations would break all the time and that they didnt work all that well, so I guess will just stick with what we have, thanks for all the input.

All the base station is, is a battery recharger. As far as not working well, I'm not sure for your specific situation, but they worked well for my previous job and with the job I'm at now as an Avaya Business Partner, we've installed on a few of our clients and they've had great success with them so far. Either way, I hope you find a solution that works well for you. :)

I would route all the calls to 6424 set , then use a wireless headset on the 6424 phone
