I'm looking for a wireless headset for a T7316e phone. The customer doesn't want to deal with a handset lifter to answer if they are away from their desk. I could have sworn that the Plantronics CS55 had the capability to remote answer without the handset lifter, but all the literature I've read tells me otherwise. Does anyone know if there are any headsets available that are capable of remote answering without a handset lifter (on the T7316).

The problem is that the lifter,HL 10, has the ring detector built in or the remote ring detector also plugs in the lifter, so he would not hear the phone ring in the headset unless he has good hearing and can recognise when his phone is ringing.

As far as needing a lifter on the 7316 or E models they are hit and miss on recognising the load on the headset port. I have better results with the M series, must activate handsfree on the set.

They dont want to press a button to activate the lifter but they want to press a button to answer the call?.

Is this the same customer that does not want to dial a code to get out but wants a button that dials the code for them?.

j/k

The lifter is required for all digital M and T.

Nortel IP Phones E1120E, 1140E, 1150E, 1165 can use a hook-switch cable.

Thanks for the input. Looks like i'm gonna need some quality double sided tape.

You could use a Plantronics CT-12 or CT-14 wireless connected to an ATA-2 or the intagrated ata port if you are useing a CICS. Its a wireless phone with headset and dial pad about the size of a small cell phone. Since it's connected to the ata, most of your system features (like transfer etc.)can be programmed as if were a T or M series set and have it's own extention. Dial out can use line pools and incomming calls can be answered as well.

JABRA / GN NETCOM 9120. Cheap on eBay and a real workhorse. They replaced it with another model number but it is just a cosmetic redesign.

I still install these all the time.

I use heavy duty velcro all over the bottom of the lifer. The real secret is to also use it on the sides of the lifter so it sticks to the side of the telephone.

I first use a alcohol prep to clean the area of dirt and grim before I stick it on. Then I tell customers never to try to remove the lifter while it is under warranty because they WILL destroy it since it really attached.
