We currently have a Avaya Definity G3si r12 (or Communication Manager 2.0). The old tried and true refrigerator style. No VOIP being used yet. Does anyone know of any wireless/cordless phones that can be used with our system?

Thanks everyone!
Carol

Any "normal" cordless phone. Set it up as either a 2500 station type or Caller-ID.

Yeah, i found out i could do that but i was hoping for a little more functionality than what that would provide.

Thanks for the input though.

We had some Trans-Talks for a while, but no one used the extra features that they came with. The regular analog cordless phones were less expensive and were used more.

Although the trend is to move towards SIP based wireless phones, I believe that Spectralink (link) still has offerings that utilize cordless phone technologies. I would strongly recommend, looking at deploying IP for this, as doing so eliminates a great number of the problems the older systems had. Either way, Spectralink has some of the best integration with Avaya.

We use a lot of the Plantronics wireless headsets on the digital phones CS50 /with cradle lifter(6400 series) and the work great. You can also use the Plantronics CT10 wireless (analog) phones. They have a pretty good range, battery life and are pretty durable.

Hi Carol,

Have you ever heard of EnGenius? This is a 900MHz cordless phone that boasts long-range capability. It would run off a standard analog port and has some interesting features such as built-in walkie-talkie and paging capability. One downside is that they're expensive.

I considered these for part of our disaster preparedness program, but someone jumped the gun and purchased two-way Motorola talkies instead.

Their web site is:
Has anyone else used these? I'd be interested to hear what comments you have. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your input! I am going to check out a few of your suggestions.

One other cordless phone that was not mentioned is the Avaya/Plantronics LKA10. It is a cordless headset phone, with a dialpad on the remote. I have used it for supervisors that want to roam the call center floor and keep an eye on their agents. We used it to dial the service observe code remotely and listen to the agent and watch their screen at the same time. If it is paired with a 6416/2420/4620 phone, you don't need the handset lifter. This is a really nice device...

I'll second the Spectralink/Avaya wireless IP phones. If you are IP capable, you can start small with a AVP for $500 or so, and phones at $500 each. This will allow you to use the phones as far as your wireless will allow. We use them with a call appearance for a user's desk phone, so they can make and recieve calls all over the building with ease.

JediBMC said it right......we have a major hotel chain customer that we changed all the transtalks out of for a Spectrlink 150 cordless phone......we were able to get a better signal from the base stations than what we got from the transtalks.....iwould definitely recommend contacting Spectralink about this model.......if you have the old refridgerator type and dont want to do IP yet, than they can definitely help you

I just wanted to let all of you know how much i appreciate the time you've taken to respond to my question. I have just sent an email off to Spectravision to see what type of solution they have for us. We probably won't be doing any IP until some time next year.

Thanks again!
