hi

Just to relate my experience with wifi on a ubuntu linux box.

I had my Dell inspiron 4000 with a Belkin ***7011 wifi card working but with limited capabilities. It cant connect when you do not have the ESSID configured. Probably would have problems connecting to wifi hotspots with that incapibility.
Works like a charm once ESSID and WEP key is configured.

I got it working with ndiswrapper. Do lookup the installation guide, follow the steps and it should not go wrong. If it doesnt work, it should be the source files that arent right (wifi drivers, or ndiswrapper not installed proper).

Just qurious, what are kinda errors/problems are you facing? Maybe you could list them here for all to relate to? Who knows, someone out here might even have the solution for it :)

Just re-read your post again, realised the installation problem with ndiswrapper.

I am no linux expert, and I rely heavily on apt-get and synaptic to get my programs and extras installed. i got ndiswrapper installed via synaptic and it works (and I know that its installed properly cos it doesnt require me to meddle and f**k up with commands! hehe).

You might want to look at that avenue.

6839470,

It would be exceptionally helpful to know the distribution of linux and the type of wireless card you are using.

hi,
I am using Mandrake 10.0 and I have Intel Pro wireless 2200BG. And I could make my wireless work with driverloader but not with ndiswrapper.
thanks,
Sumanth
