My windows XP has become very slow at exploring. When I start Windows Explorer, the flashlight is searching for my drives in 30-60 sec. The drop-down-menu in the save as...-box takes a very long time to "drop down". But when it's there, it's fast as before.
Internet Explorer has also a slow-down period, it takes ages before it starts downloading when I type in an adress and hit Enter.
I've tried to stop the Windows Image A.-service, but it didn't seem to help.

Do a ctl-alt-del and go to the task manager. From there go to the Processes tab and see, if any, process is using alot of CPU usage.

I would also run a virus scan and check for spyware.

You could also check the event viewer for odd and unusual entries, as well as running a defrag. All the above should help bring some life back to the computer.
