With service pack 2, Windows XP introduced many 'issues' for Paradox.

Printing/reports: removing sp2 for one use cured his A4 report/landscape problem. The top 8mm of the report disappeared when XPsp2 was introduced. Removing sp2 solved the problem.
Mixed environment, when sp2 was introduced to the XP machine printing slowed. Speed came and went in waves. Uninstalling sp2 cured the problem; print speed returned to normal.

SQL Aliases: problem access tables directly (interactively) using Aliases with SQL. Only real workaround, other than uninstalling, was reported here - ProView from Vladimir Menkin accesses SQL Aliases even under XPsp2.

Please add to this thread if you find 'issues' and/or fixes relating to Paradox and XP SP2.

Continuing the thread:

At least one reported slow performance with XPsp2.

Their 'issue' was that there were one or more printers that no longer existed.

By removing the printer, performance for Paradox displaying the print dialog, and printing, returned to normal.

Evidently, every printer was checked for existence/availability prior to allowing the dialog, or printing, to display/occur.

Hi,

I have performance problems with Pdx9 in Windows 2000.

The problem only exist if I use the menu's or toolbar.
If I use the keyboard shortcuts (F8 instead of Program-Run or Ctrl+F4 instead og clicking X) the performance is normal.
If I click the Program menu it takes over 30sek. to show the Program dropdown menulist!!!!
Also Pdx9 takes very long to start.

I don't have Pdx9 runtime installed so I would'nt know if there's a problem with that as well!

I don't have this problem in other programs.
Disabling Norton Antivirus does not have any effect.

I have not been doing any Pdx development for some time now but doing a lot of Windows/Office updating.
It could ofcource have something to do with a Windoze patch but I would'nt know where to start!

Please help!!!

Sorry... should have been a new post!

This is typical of 'printers installed but not attached'.

Does this fit your situation?

Yeeehaah... spot on... thanks a mill...

I deleted all unattached printers and performance was back in full :-D
