WinXP Pro - Automatically sharing out Printers???

I noticed over the last several days that the WinXP laptops and desktops that are in my office are automatically sharing themselves out in XP to other workstations (XP) and then these pc's are doing the same.

Basically, this appears to be causing a lot of network issues for the company. I need to remove (fix) whatever is causing this problem.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem before (I haven't)?? How can I resolve it? Is there a way to do it remotely or via a login script? Is this a service that is running in XP???

Please help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Melissa

This is decidedly not standard XP behavior.

I strongly suspect a virus.

Have you checked the Network Properties these machines are using?

What would I be looking for in the network settings?

I already checked and there was nothing that I noticed regarding sharing and/or distribution selected.

I am curious if there is a pattern to the share names for the printers and folders?
