I'm having problems printing in XP while attempting to print through an application? For example, if I open Dentrix (dental application) and try to print from within this application by slecting it's print icon I get an application error stating Dentrix couldn't print - it sounds like the application isn't working correctly. Problem is I contact Dentrix and they say it's something on the computer side. I can print word, excel, and adobe documents but nothing through applications - for example Dentrix. Anyone experiencing anything like this and can offer some suggestions?

Three thoughts:

1. If Dentrix asks for a printer port, and you have been using LPT1 for example, try PRN

2. You could set up under Windows a new printer, and tell Dentrix to use that. The new printer would be Generic Text Printer. Set the port to LPT1

3. It may be a DOS redirection problem. Use Google to search for "dos print redirector utility." There are several freeware utilities you can find that you load prior to Dentrix to redirect LPT1 to your Windows print queue.

Best.

PRN port - not sure I saw this setting during setup. I'm using a USB cable, would this be why I didn't have the PRN option? I'll check again.
