I have problem with MS Word 2000.

If I start a new document I don't have any problems as far as I can tell.

If I open a previously saved word doc then shortly thereafter my system crashes to a halt and my CPU usage spikes to 100%. When I look at the running processe in Task Manager I see winword.exe as 100% of the CPU Usage.

Have any of you guys heard of this before?

Any help would be appreciated.

Used to have it with Word 5.0, where it would literally suck up all the resources. Have not heard of this with 2000. What is your OS? Does this only occur with pre-existing files? Does it ever do this just opening Word and waiting?

I am running Win XP pro.

As far as I can tell it only happens when I open a pre-existing file.

I have opened Task Manager and opened Word and left if for 5 minutes. No unusual spikes in CPU usage.

I then added info to the file and left for 5 minutes, still no change.

Saved the file but left it open, no change.

Closed the file and re-opened it, CPU jumps from 95%-100%.

That is all I tried and thought I would ask you guys for any hints as to whether you have seen this before.

Weird. Any code in the file that may be running?

Have seen something like this before

Find NORMAL.DOT
Save it somewhere, just in case
Delete the original
Start up Word again
It will automatically create a new default one
And you should be going again

That would be a good first try. Have you checked any of the existing files for viruses?

If normal.dot deletion does not work, I would be interestedin getting a hold of a file. i am very curious.

Hi,
I have the similar problem. winword.exe is taking 100% cpu say after some interval of time for atleast 4-5 mins. I have office 2000 with windows XP pro. I have norton antivirus 2004. No virus is on PC. Also even if I only use word document it takes same amount of CPU. Please help.
Thanks in advance,

How to print and at the same time save a WORD fill-in form

Hope someone in this group can help me.
I have created a fill-in form for my home business, and named the document "Home & Garden Management" in MS WORD 2000. I would like to have MS Word 2000 automatically save a copy of the form to a predesignated folder on my C:\drive when fill-in data is completed, and at the same time print out a copy to the client for their signature.

I am totally new to layout techniques, and feel proud that I was able to design and create such a document. It would therefore be an asset to me if there is some way I can have a macro save each completed form so that I have an archive both on my hard drive and on paper before it prints it out. As the data on each client is different, I don't want to have to remember to manually save before I print each time.

Could you give step-by-step explanation on how to go about it as I am still in the creeping stages.
Hope this is the correct forum for my question, and that my wish is possible. Please help
Thanks a bunch.

Hi Ckaspar,
sorry for posting my question in wrong place. I'll try to get it right this time.
Hope you'll forgive me
