Winmgmt.exe eats up the memory

I have a windows 2k server that has completed updates what so ever, for some reason the winmgmt.exe seems taking up the memory and soon the systems locks up and I have to hard reset it. This is the event log:

WMI ADAP was unable to process the performance libraries: 0x80041001

I have alreday done the following:

sfc /scannow
