I am helping a friend and need the steps on finding the version of her dial-up adapter.

She had a card installed to use cable but she should still have the modem.

Can someone help me with this?

So if I'm correct then you want to know what type of modem brand and version is installed in the PC ?
The best way to find out is opening the pc case and taking a look at the modem. There must be a sticker or label on it which shows the brand and type. You can also take a look in the device manager in windows under "modem", maybe you can find some info there.
Start->Settings->Configuration->System->tab device manager.

Good luck!

To be sure that dial up networking is installed
Go to
Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add Remove Software
Look for the WINDOWS SETUP tab
Under the Windows setup tab look for the COMMUNICATION group. Click on the WORD not, on the checkbox. With the group hi-lighted click on the Details button below and see if the DIAL UP NETWORKING group is checked. If not place a check in the box to the left and press OK twice

Thank you for your helps. Kudos to you both.

No further help is needed.
