I have several remote (not connected to a domain/network)workstations that have connections to the internet so that users can use the remote desktop connector (terminal server connection) but have had DNS disabled stop the them browsing websites.
So as the system can automatically update packages such as Symantec Antivirus through the internet I use a line in the hosts file to reolve the update site.
Unfortunately I am unable to do this for Windowsupdate and any entries such as windowsupdate.microsoft.com or do not work under SP2.
Does anyone know why/how Microsoft have done this and of any way to get around it.
Many thanks in advance
Mark
