windows95 to windows98

Hello, this is a simple question. I have a system that is still running win95. I'ld like to upgrade it to win98SE and I only have the full install of 98. If i run this and reinstall the OS, does this blow away all of the programs and setting that are already in place?

get an update disk or format the hd before installing from the full cdrom

ive never seen anyone just install a regular 98 over 95, but i imagine it wld just corrupt everything forcing a format and reinstall

thanks. i gave it a try anyway (being young and stupid ) and it won't let you get very far. it finds the other OS and informs you that you need the upgrade disk.

You can easily put 98 over 95.
Open Explorer, rename the win.com file to win.bak (it's in c:\windows) and run the install.
EVERYTHING will remain the same, desktop, links, shortcuts, programs, everything... Cheers,
