I just installed Windows XP and then installed Office 97. When I try running Word or Excel the application tell me I need to install the software. The install completes with no error or problems.

I check to make sure the executables are in the appropriate directory/folder.

Is Office 97 compatable with Windows XP?

Thank you

Probably the most simple way to find out if it is compatible or not is to use your WindowsXP disc. Insert it and when it starts up click on the option to "check for compatibility".

Here is a link that gives you the Office97 requirements to run the software. It will apparently run on a NT Workstation, but I'm not sure about XP. Use the compatibility software provided on the WinXP disc and see what response you get.

God bless you,
Bobby

Office 97 should run ok on XP - but I've read on other forums that there are a few minor issues - but nothing serious.

Are you running it as an Administrator?

You could try compatibility mode (run it as earlier version of windows)

Off 97 does work on XP, but .. you HAVE to install it as admin ! The solution is out there. [morning]
