Windows XP wont log onto server of first try

Quite a few of my windows XP machines will not log onto the DC on the first try usually one reboot will do it sometimes 3-4 times. I was wondering if anyone knew why this was happening? we have windows 2000 server on our server and XP all the way around. any help would be great

Make sure that the first DNS entry on the workstation is pointed to your DC.

I ran into this problem myself, just setting our ISP's DNS in the primary and secondary, and it took FOREVER to log onto the DC. Pointing the first DNS entry in the search order to the DC made it work instantly.

Yeah I double checked that because I did have a problem with that part of it once. So im kinda lost now.
