This is a full rookie question I'm sure. I'm trying to set up a VPN through XP. I was trying to just use the "New Network Connection Wizard". I click "Next" on the first screen. I select "Connect to the network at my workplace" next. The next screen that allows you to select either "Dial-up connection" or "Virtual Private Network connection" is grayed out! It won't let me select "Virtual Private Network connection." Does anyone know why this is? Once I get far enough to set this up, I'm sure I'll have other questions. :)

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Only1Z,

I am having the same problem and have not been able to fix it. I found another thread (different discussion board) listing the same problem. This (see below) worked for the guy who posted the original problem. Although it did not apply to my config.

If you find another solution that also works please tell me!

Try this:

It is due to an incorrect Registry key.
In Regedit, navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Current Control Set/Services/RasMan/PPP/EAP

when you get to this point, you should see four folders numbered 4, 13, 25, 26.

Delete folders 25 and 26.
