With XP taken off extended support by Microsoft in April, I assume PCI compliance is going to go out the window with our posflex TP5815's running XP. Running Aloha 6.x

I have installed booth Vista & Win 7 with sucess, however I can't get the resistive touchscreen & mag reader- keyboard posiflex drivers (that Posiflex wrote themselves) to install.

I have also looked at Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 (effectively XP stripped down bare & supported for 5 more years), but for the life of me can't figure a way to easily buy licenses for it.

Anyone get the the posiflex drivers loaded with Vista or Win 7?

Any easy way to buy Embedded POS ready2009?

Or does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

OK it appears 2019 is End of Support, 2024 is end of distribution. In PCI terms it means 2019 is the year of importance to credit card merchants.

I could not find an easy way to migrate to POSReady2009.

I also have Pentium 3 based Posiflex TP-6015's that I was able to upgrade to Vista since it used ELO touchscreen Com port drivers, which can be easily downloaded from the ELO website.

My Pentium 4 based TP-5815 has been a work in progress. They use the posiflex only PS2 drivers, which would not install under Windows Vista or 7 (which, by the way, both 7 & Vista installed fine on the unit except for the touchscreen drivers). Now I'm trying a clean install of XP with ACPI enabled & with the touchscreen drivers installed, followed by an upgrade to Vista.

OF NOTE, if upgrading either ACPI will have to be enabled in BIOS prior to any OS install. I also chose suspend type S1.

Question: I assume Aloha 6.5xxx terminals will work under Vista?

I upgraded the radiant p1220 to win7 and have no issues running aloha 6.4 and above. Have not tested on older versions. I have them in production running 2 gig ram. Issues arose when running terminstall or RAL. Both wanted to put a shortcut in a folder that does not exist any longer in Win7 "Documents and settings\all users\start menu\startup."

The all users start menu in Win 7 is in a hidden folder. So I just added the ibercfg short cut to the start up.

Interesting on the P1220, I just had ordered one for testing on Ebay.

I finished my "upgrade route" mentioned above for the Posiflex TP-5815 and its a no go!!! The Posiflex TP5815, with PS2 touchscreen driver, is officially a brick in the post XP era for PCI/CISP compliance, unless one can find a way to legally license POSReady 2009 on it.

I'll need to buy your services to handle the BOH server jump from XP to 7, and jump from Aloha Table Service 6.5 to 6.7. I'll call when ready to go.

POS Ready 2009 is good till 2024. That is extended support which is patches.
