my windows xp restarts every 20 or 30 minutes
i was wondering if you guys could tell me what this error signature means

thanks

Is that all of the error message? Do you have a Stop Error number? Check your event viewer and see if you can pick up the full error message.

You can also turn off Automatic Restarts on system failure by going to My Computer and right clicking to get into System Properties. Any Stop Error will be displayed and you will have to reboot yourself.

As to your current problem the first couple of things to try is starting in Safe Mode then choosing the "last known good configuration" option. If that doesn't work try going back in time via System Restore.

Is this a P4 processor? I've noticed heat has a lot to do with the system shutting down. The ONE good thing about the P4 is that when heat becomes and issue, it downclocks itself slowly, while heat rises, and will eventually shut itself off. Check to see if it slows down before shutting itself off. Check temperatures in there as well.

I have this problem if its a p4 or amd, its depending on the system, somtimes ive gone back to win2k as the licence covers both, spoke to many a friend and they have had same prob. Weve found most of them seem have nvidia cards in them, the 21.83 driver seems the most stable but they have a new 1 out which i hear is also stable.

You can disbale the reboot feature but youll only be met with bluescreen of death and have to reboot anyway...

I bow to windows 3.11

hehe

The advantage and purpose of disabling the automatic reboot is to give the user an opportunity to note the exact error message while it is on the screen. It will not stop the error but give you information to research it.
