Windows XP random pop ups 1

I have Windows XP Professional on my Home PC.
Sometimes the mouse freezes up and sometimes Windows pop up menus just pop up and I have to click on the pop up item to close it. I reinstalled the Windows XP OS and it still has the same problem. Please advise how I can correct this issue and why my reninstallation of the Windows OS didnt clear these issues?

Did you reinstall to a freshly formatted HD?

What anti-virus and anti-spyware software are you using?

What is freshly formatted HD?


I used Windows XP CD that says Reinstallation CD with Microsoft Window XP Professional including Service Pack 1a.

I then used Resource CD to install the Device drivers.

Please advise.

Could be a bad mouse - is it wireless, USB or 'regular' plug in?

It plugs into the mid section of the CPU and has 7 small needle plug ins with one center piece plug in.

I assume that is a plug in or is it USB?

This is on a Dell model 2350.

thats a ps/2 plug

i suspect a keyboard error, try a different one
