I have a new XP Pro(SP2) computer. I have 2 Admin accounts on it. I used Admin1 account to install all the programs and configure them. Now, I logged in as Admin2 and tried to copy the profile for Admin1 to Default User. After I go through the whole process, and click OK to overwrite existing default user profile, I get the error "Failed to set security on destination profile. Error -- access denied". I am logged in as Administrator, what more do I need to get access?! Any help will be highly appreciated.

did you use the 'copyto' feature for profiles in system properties (advanced tab?)

If you did, did you tell it who would have permissions to the new profile?

Hi Wolluf,

I used the Copy To option under Advanced/User Settings. And, I specified Everyone to have rights to the profile. Any ideas why I get this error?

Have you checked the security settings on the Default User profile?

Did you try the copy after just logging out from admin1? Have you tried again after a reboot?

Yes, I did check the security settings and also rebooted the computer (several times) but have the same problem. I saw on other discussion forums too that some users have this problem but don't see any solutions...

Not sure if you can do this in your situation. But at work I configured everything the way I wanted for a default user profile. The log on as another user with admin rights. Use the copyto feature and set usage to everyone and copy that profile to default user.

Now this default user profile should be ok and you can copy it to any other pc and it will make everyone have the same profile.

If its possible for you to set it up the way to you want on another machine you could try to do it this way.

Another thing, can you do it the other way round? Configure admin2 the way you want it and then log on as admin1 and copy the profile to default does this work or the same error?
