windows xp pro shut down

please help when i shut down xp or restart it just hangs for about 10 min.there are no confliks i can see i heard ther was a patch for this?i can't find it any ideas.

hi in control panel select system in system properties select advance tab in advance tab in startup and recovery settings go to system failer remove automatically restart check box and then ok this action should solv your problem
