I have several XP Pro workstations that will not successfully start terminal server services that is needed for remote desktop hosting. Whenever the service is started it immediately stops and present the following message:

"The Terminal Services service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service."

Any advice is appreciated... Help....

Check dependancies. Terminal services require Remote procedure call (RPC) to be running.

RPC is running... Any other suggestions. Is there a way to reinstall terminal services on a XP Pro workstation? Maybe this will jump start the service.

Start, Run, sc create termservice
will recreate the service.

But I suspect you have some other issue. Is DCOM Service Process launcher started?

If SP2, have you made the exception in the native firewall for Remote Desktop?
