We've recently upgraded to Windows XP and are running Peachtree 2003. We have problems with Peachtree not shutting down completely..... usually takes a control-alt-del to shut down. Also keep getting a message stating the Peachtree directory path cannot be found when opening Peachtree. Peachtree support tells me our server is causing the problems but all our other apps run great. Anyone else having problems with these?

Peachtree is an accounting application. Accounting applications take a lot of resources to run. If you are receiving an error about the directory path, verify that the pcw100.ini has the correct datapath (i.e., F:\PEACHW--not C:\PEACHW). The shutting down issue has to do with your network, not Peachtree.

What OS is your server? Are your mappings created through login scripts?

I called Peachtree on a similar problem. They suggested that there is an incompatibility with Peachtree and 2 Windows XP hotfixes. They said to remove HotFixes Q810577 and Q811493. They have not yet fixed the problem in 2004. Removing them does speed up Peachtree slightly, however, there are still issues with speed. We have both 2000 and XP machines on the system. A 200 machine can back up peachtree in about 15 seconds. It takes about 15 minutes on the XPs. There is a serious issue here.

I'm having a similar problem. Every time you close Peachtree 2004 on a few of our XP machines it hangs and doesn't close. I called support and they said to remove hotfixes Q810577 and Q811493 as wreinersmann said. I just tested on one machine and Peachtree now closes correctly (though a little slowly?).

I have the same problem with XP and Peachtree Complete 2004. Has anyone found a fix for this yet? The hotfixes listed are not on my systems, so I can't remove them.

I forgot to mention why.... KB826939 is an update rollup that contains the two hotfixes that conflict with Peachtree.

I tried to remove this hotfix, but windows won't let me. It tells me that it will affect just about every program I have installed. I decided, what the heck, and told it to do it anyway, and then it said it couldn't find some uninstall directory with ntdll.dll in it, even though the directory it was shown in HAD that file in it.

Any clues?

Thanks

That's strange, I didn't run into that problem on any of the machines I had to fix. Try asking on the XP forum, I'm sure you can find a solution there.

I think it's because there were a lot of hotfixes applied AFTER this particular one was installed.

The reason for it not allowing you to copy the file back has to do with ownership of those files being mis-set.

Navigate to the windows directory, go to the security properties for the uninstall directory and click advanced, click owner, highlight the "Administrators" group, check the "Replace owner on subcontainers" box, and click apply and then ok to all of the dialogs. Then you should be able to uninstall the fix without problems.

good luck!
